Thanks for asking, it has been a while since we’ve posted an update.
We should have a Kickstarter update coming in a few days - we’ve made a ton of progress since the last one.
It is definitely still months out. There is a lot left to do, and it is only the two of us working on a very tight budget. We are focusing on quality work and consistent progress. At the same time, we’ve put in a lot of planning to minimize how much we actually need to do before shipping so we can still get them out to you as quickly as possible. Basically, we are trying to get the fundamentals of Pickup working really well so we have a solid foundation, and then we will be enhancing features with software updates down the line after we ship. It is very important to us that what you receive works extremely well!
This summer is where we are finally getting enough of the individual pieces working together that we will be able to start showing actual demos of the real thing. I know that these kinds of Kickstarters have a tendency to feel really slow (believe me - we’d been working on this project for years in the background before we went live). It has been a lot of intense work on the stuff that doesn’t really demo well (like firmware updates, which need to be extremely reliable, but that’s not exactly a flashy feature to show off!), but need to work if we’re going to have a real product.
Thanks for your continued patience, and whenever you feel like you haven’t heard from us in a while, please feel free to check in! We have our heads down in a lot of fussy detail work and before we know it, weeks have gone by and we haven’t come up for air.
